THE GATHERING OF THE CLANS

We had such an awesome time with Shawn's family. His brother Reyn, wife Heloise and their three boys Thomas, Gavin and Graham, drove out from Manitoba to the West Coast. They spent a couple days at our place. Shawn and Reyn were able to go on a nice alpine hike and Heloise scored on some good shopping while the 6 cousins played none stop. We also got together with the Klassens. We then went to Vancouver Island to meet up with Shawn's parents. We spent a relaxing week playing and enjoying each other's company. I'm going to borrow a few of the boys comments to describe the fun we had. "Can we spend all day in the beach again, without having to go inside?", " I like listening to the waves every morning when I wake up", "Grandpa is a crazy croquet player!", "Those dingies are fun to play with" and most often "Can we knock on the boys door?" , meaning their cousins who were staying next door. As you will be able to tell by the pictures, the fun was endless . . .

Reyn on Goat Mountain

Gavin and Ethan were inseparable

Little Graham enjoyed his chocolate ice cream

Playing croquet with Grandpa was always a favorite and we also enjoyed playing paddle ball.

Paddling was enjoyed by all

Harvesting oysters from the beach . . . . . . and eating them! What an experience!!! The boys would build a castle when the tide was out . . . . . . of course the tide would come back in . . . . . . and despite their best efforts, the water would take over!

But they never gave up, the next morning construction would start all over again! The sunset from our place! How fun to hang out with cousins! Lots of memories made! Thank you my dear family for such awesome times!! Good Bye! We love you!

A Week With the Duecks

After much anticipation and counting the days to their arrival, my dear brother Fred, his wife Angela and their kids Stefan and Sabrina finally arrived for a visit. We had a great time and a fun-filled week. It was hard to drop them off at the airport, we will miss them! Here is a little sample of some of our shared moments. LOGS, ROCKS AND TIDE POOLS One of the things in Stefans's list was to return to the "Log Beach" and build a fort.
And a fort they built . . .

. . . complete with kitchen and all

Collecting rocks . . .

. . . and throwing them was also a favorite past time. And of course, we could not leave without exploring the tide pools

WHISTLER

We also spent a few days in Whistler. We did not have the blue skies we hoped for in order to enjoy the beautiful views; however, that did not deter us from having a good time. The Duecks had a great Pacific Northwest experience when we went out mountain biking. Besides getting a little turned around and ending up in some rougher terrain then expected, we also got drenched. All the kids were asking for biking the next day!!

Nothing like soaking in a nice hot tub after hard core biking!!

Shawn and I went on a Ziptrek Adventure! It was a lot of fun!!

OTHER GREAT MOMENTS

Hiking around Lake Louise

Catching "Freddy Cougar".

Trading fur at Fort Langley Kayaking in Lake Whatcom Shawn, the "King of Catan" ; Fred and Harvey, "Sequence" Champions Having a ball at the pool

Nothing like Strawberry shortcake after a water gun fight. We will miss you, come back soon . . .
