Field Trip

After reading and learning about the Titanic for a few weeks we finally made it to the Exhibition! It was a day full of adventure, fun and learning. After crossing from Anacortes to Sidney via WA State Ferry, we run to catch the bus. Of course we miss it by 30 seconds. According to the kids that was a blessing in disguise. The next bus was a Double Decker. Can you believe our luck!!! All the seats were taken, but that did not matter since the place to be was on top and right against the window. We were fortunate that very kind people were sitting in the front seats and did not mind a swarm of kids around them. We made it to downtown Victoria and saw the Titanica IMAX show followed by the Titanic Artifact Exhibit. We even had some time to explore more of the Museum. It was a great experience and we all had a great time.

Waiting for the bus

We have the best "seats" of the house

Our fun group (Brent is taking the picture, but he is part of the fun group too).

Double Decker on the way back too!! Doulble the fun!!

What a nice way to end a great day. full moon over Friday Harbor.

Can't wait for the next Field Trip

Happy Birthday Grandma

What a nice day did we have!! It was a beautiful Sunday and we were able to gather with family that we don't see very often. Uncle Herb and Aunt Marriane Loewen were visiting from Manitoba and Uncle Darrel and Aunt Mandy Klassen are in Bellingham from Ecuador and on their way to South Africa. What a blessing to be together and celebrate Mom's birthday.

There goes the kite . . .

. . . Oops!!!

Our boys are always up for a game a croquet.

Yes, I know it could be a closer up, but when you ask a stranger to take a picture you just don't push it!

COM'ON MOM

Yes, I knew this day would come, but not so soon!! "Com'on Mom" were the words I heard Christian say as we were hiking in the Cascades. To be fare, I have to tell you that on our way up, I had to keep encouraging them to keep going: "just one more switch back and we will be there"!! However, on the way down, they just sprinted down the mountain. Since I still plan on lots of hiking in my life, I did not find it wise to pound my good ol'e knees by running down the mountain. And so the boys had to wait for their mom!! We all had a great time that day. We started out all together and made it to a great view point of Watson Lakes. On the way back, Christian, Nolan and I took a side trip to get up to Anderson Butte while Shawn and Ethan went back to the trail head. Nolan and Christian got a kick out of being "taller" then Mt. Baker. Look at their proud faces!!

WAY TO GO SHAWN

Nothing like starting the summer off and ending it with a kayak race! On Memorial Day Shawn participated in the Ski to Sea, as he has ever since we moved here. On Labor Day he participated in the Bellingham Traverse. And of course, there was plenty of kayaking in between and many more paddling to come. It is, after all, a year around kind of sport, according to Shawn.

Shawn had to brave some wind and whitecaps . . .

. . . But here he comes with and his teamates, crossing the finish line

WAY OT GO SHAWN !!!
