Bellingham Day #9

It's been nine years now since we moved to this area from the Midwest.  It has become the place we love to live and where we formed great friendships (of course we miss the friends we left behind).  As a way not to forget the way God directed our path and the awe we felt when we first set eyes on our surroundings,  we celebrate our anniversary move by going or doing something unique to this area.  Although other choices were presented, we returned to an old favorite; skiing at Mt Baker.

We could not see much ahead of us for the first part of the day and it felt like we were skiing blind , which for me takes no small amount of courage to forge ahead.  Eventually the skies opened up and revealed the beauty of the region we now call home.

Unique to this area as well, is a name like "Chair 9" to be given to a restaurant.  You understand the reason after you ride eight different chair lifts on the mountain.
The celebration was shared with dear friends, however, we did miss our own Ethan.

Our youngest one had a birthday sleepover to attend and did not want to miss it. At first I was bummed at the thought of not having the whole family together, but then I realized that a big part of loving life here, is the friendships we have formed. We left our Ethan behind with some of his good friends and brought along another Ethan (we do this Ethan trading quite often).

One more picture of three amigos sitting on a lift chair that was actioned off when the lift was replaced.  These chairs are now becoming part of the region history, and year by year, so are we.
