Whatever it Takes

Take One
Take Two
There were many second takes on our hiking adventure. It's not easy to find your route on a snow covered trail. It took a few detours and retracing of our steps while charting our course.
Eventually we spotted our destination
and after a bit more energy output we reached our goal: the historical Park Butte fire lookout.
Oops! This door almost knocked me out cold. Take two for opening the door.
The effort and energy spent were worth it. We had spectacular views accompanied by great sense of accomplishment.
The adventure and fun continued on the way down. Instead of following our course that we had set on the way up, we took a few short cuts in an attempt to avoid going down & up (mainly we were avoiding the up part) of the snow covered gulleys. Our "short cut" took us to a near endless ridge with no (safe) way down.
I drew the line at the suggestion to "just follow the creek and eventually will get there." I'm not going to mention who's suggestion it was.
One more hurdle to overcome and we were home free!
The weather and views were phenomenal. . .
. . . but what really made this trip special were the laughs and talks I could share with a really good friend!
