Nature's Resiliance

Meet an old friend of ours, "Manca". The word manca means "to limp" in Portuguese. Several summers ago, (three, maybe even four), we saw this doe with a severe limp due to an injury on her leg. She had a little fawn with her and we just hoped that she would make it long enough to raise her little one. The next year we saw her again, her leg was healed, her limp was less noticeable and she had a pair of twin fawns, Polka & Dot. Every summer we see her again, it's hard to miss her with that bump on her left hind leg, and she always has a new fawn with her.

This summer, she has three little cute ones. Isn't it amazing?

And we get to watch it all right from our backyard. I love it!

Since we are on the subject of cute fawns, I just had to add another picture we took on our way to yesterday's hike.
